# Viewing a dataset's lineage:

To view the lineage of a dataset, navigate to the **Datasets** tab. Locate the dataset within its workspace and collection, then open it. Click the **Lineage** link in the **Quick Links** section at the top right. The historical lineage of the dataset appears.
